Sustainability in the A2 Community Gardens

Sustainability is a main initiative for the Ann Arbor Community Commons.  COMMENTS OR ELABORATION HERE??

Rain Gardens

Reducing runoff helps to keep water in the soil and keep it out of the city water system.

Soil Enrichment

Composting and mulching help with the health of the plant as well as reducing maintenance like fertilizing and weeding.

Pollinator Plants

A mix of wild flowers and long bloomers attract and nurture Bees. With the added bonus of added oxygen production.

The Future of the Community Garden

01.

Spring Garden Design

The Green Team has begun reaching out to local Master Gardeners and Nurseries to begin plans for a fall planting that will give the gardens an amazing Spring Garden Bloom.

02.

Education Initiative

The Community Garden is a great opportunity to provide in person educational resources for topics such as gardening, rain water management, composting…

03.

Community Curators

There are a variety of areas available for gardening in the Commons space, which we hope to invite members of the community to coordinate and cultivate.
